NEWARK, NJ — Rep. Donald M. Payne, Jr., hosted more than 100 guests at his annual Black History Program at the Sheila Oliver Conference Room in Newark, NJ, on February 22.

“Black History Month is a time for us to celebrate how far we’ve come,” said Rep. Payne, Jr. “But it is also a month for us to celebrate where we are going. Black history is still being written.”

Rep. Payne, Jr., honored six people who are Making Black History Every Day in New Jersey’s Tenth Congressional District.

“Larry Hamm, Mattie Holloway, Jae Wilson, Rev. Mario Moody, Lenora Gaskins, and Pastor Pamela Jones are Making Black History Every Day by serving their communities,” said Rep. Payne, Jr. “They are examples of the power of individuals to change lives through acts of kindness.”

Black History Month is celebrated in February each year.
