Payne Statement on the Passing of Mayor Booker's Father

Newark, N.J. – Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. released the following statement after the passing of Cary Booker, the father of Newark Mayor Cory Booker:

“I want to extend my deepest sympathies to Mayor Cory Booker, his brother, Cary Booker, and the entire Booker family. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Cary Booker during my time as President of the Newark City Council, and he was always a true delight to be around. I will always remember our conversations as being full of joy and laughter, and he will be truly missed. My prayers and condolences go out to Mayor Booker and his family during this sorrowful time.”
