Payne Statement on House Passage of Clean DHS Funding Bill

Mar 3, 2015 Issues: National Security

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) today issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed a clean, full-year funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security.

“I’m pleased that after significant Republican obstructionism, the House finally passed a clean, full-year funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security.

“The consequences of a Department of Homeland Security shutdown for emergency preparedness efforts in New Jersey and throughout our nation would have been severe, which is why I continuously stressed the need for a clean DHS funding bill.

“I hope that Republicans stop governing from crisis to crisis and work across the aisle to advance the priorities of the American people.”
