Payne, Jr. Statement on President’s Plan for Closing Guantanamo

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) released the following statement in response to President Obama’s plan to close the Guantanamo Bay detention center:  

“I applaud the president for presenting a plan to strengthen our national security and reaffirm America’s values by responsibly closing the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility. Congress has a responsibility to review the president’s plan, and I will continue to advocate for the closure of the detention facility to advance the security of our nation.”
