Payne, Jr. Statement on Omnibus Spending Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the FY2017 omnibus spending bill:

“There are a number of shortcomings in this bill. But in another defeat to President Trump, the bill does not include his most dangerous priorities, including funding for a border wall.

“The bill also secured significant wins for the people of New Jersey, from increased investments in Amtrak, to increased funding for disadvantaged student support services, to increased assistance for low-income households.

“Republicans may have control of the White House and both houses of Congress, but we’re seeing them fail time and time again because their policies are toxic. This latest Republican failure is a victory for the American people.”
