Payne, Jr. Applauds New Overtime Pay Protections

Jun 30, 2015 Issues: Economy and Jobs

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) today released the following statement after the Department of Labor announced a proposed rule extending overtime pay protections to nearly 5 million workers:

“This is a tremendous victory for New Jersey families. No one who works hard, takes responsibility, and plays by the rules should struggle to get by. Yet, for far too long, too many Americans have worked long hours with pay that does not reflect their productivity and effort. It is important that New Jersey workers are provided with the fair compensation they deserve. These new overtime pay protections will ensure that hard work is honored with fair pay, and that families get a better shot at economic prosperity.”
