Payne, Jr. Announces $14.6 Million Contract Award for Maintenance Dredging of Newark Bay

Newark, N.J. – Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) today announced that the Department of the Army has awarded a $14,584,080 contract to DonJon Marine Company, Inc. to perform maintenance dredging of Newark Bay.

“Newark Bay is essential to port commerce and New Jersey’s economic competitiveness,” said Congressman Payne, Jr. “With this contract award, DonJon Marine Company, Inc. will ensure the safe navigation of commercial traffic through Newark Bay, supporting the vitality of our waterways and the economic strength of our state.”

The maintenance dredging will facilitate commerce in the Port of New York and New Jersey and make navigation of container terminals in Newark Bay safer for vessels. The work will be performed in Newark, with an estimated contract completion date of November 8, 2016.

DonJon Marine Company, Inc. specializes in marine services, including dredging and marine salvage. Their location in Hillside, New Jersey puts them close to Newark Bay and other local bodies of water.
