Congressman Payne, Jr. to Host #TechTalk Google Hangout on Tech Sector Diversity

On Monday, June 15 at 3:00 p.m. EDT, Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) and two of the brightest tech figures will hold a Google Hangout about efforts to increase African American inclusion and representation in the tech sector.

The #TechTalk Google Hangout will include an overview of CBC TECH 2020, the Congressional Black Caucus’s new initiative to expand opportunities for African Americans in the tech industry, and discussion of other efforts to support future and aspiring tech professionals and entrepreneurs. The #TechTalk will also include a Q&A. 

Joining Congressman Payne, Jr. for the #TechTalk Google Hangout are:

  • Anthony Frasier, Co-Founder of The Phat Startup, a media company that educates aspiring entrepreneurs from urban backgrounds. A native of Newark, New Jersey, Frasier is working to build the Newark tech community as the creator of the entrepreneurial network Brick City Tech. Frasier was named by CNN Money as one of eight entrepreneurs diversifying the tech scene.
  • Kimberly Bryant, Founder of Black Girls Code, a San Francisco-based organization dedicated to providing young and pre-teen girls throughout the world with opportunities to learn skills in computer programming and technology. Previously, Bryant served in technical leadership roles at Fortune 100 companies, including Genentech and Merck. Bryant was named by Business Insider as one of the 25 most influential African Americans in the tech industry.
