Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr.'s Statement on National Entrepreneurship Month

Washington, D.C. — November is National Entrepreneurship Month. Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. issued the following statement in honor of our nation's entrepreneurs.

"Entrepreneurs are the backbone of our economy," said Rep. Payne, Jr. "They create companies that provide jobs and wealth to their communities. That is why we need to do more to promote black entrepreneurs. Many of them come from cities desperate for economic growth. They can form the companies that can turn impoverished neighborhoods into empowered neighborhoods.

"As we celebrate National Entrepreneurship Month, we need to encourage more black innovators to become entrepreneurs. Then we need to address the inherent bias in the credit and loan industry that keeps them from obtaining the funds they need to turn their product ideas into business realities."
