Washington, D.C. — Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. released the following statement on National Preparedness Month, which begins today and continues through the end of September.

“As we start National Preparedness Month, it is important for everyone to review their emergency plans and make sure they are ready for any disaster,” said Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr.  “As Chairman of the Subcommittee of Emergency Preparedness, Response & Recovery for the House Committee on Homeland Security, it is my responsibility to make sure our country is ready for every natural disaster, whether it is a global pandemic or a major hurricane.  But Americans must be prepared to protect themselves and their families during a crisis.  Parents and civic leaders should have an emergency plan regarding what to do during a natural disaster and review it frequently with their families and department officials.  When we work together, we can save time and save lives should such a catastrophe happen.”
