Washington, D.C. — Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. voted in favor of several bills this week to improve the benefits available to veterans. The 12 bills would help veterans succeed in civilian life, make sure they get their educational benefits, ensure women veterans get access to quality health care, and help veterans start and expand small businesses.
Congressman Payne, Jr. said his support for the bills came from his lifelong support for veterans.
“Our country owes our veterans a debt that we can never repay,” said Congressman Payne, Jr. “I voted for these bills because we need to provide the men and women of our armed forces the same quality of care and benefits when they return home from service.
These bills empower the Veterans Administration to take stronger action to protect veterans’ benefits, speed the process of providing benefits to veterans, extend certain benefits to family members of fallen veterans, and provides increased access to medical care for our female veterans.
I am proud to support these bills and proud to support our troops on and off the battlefield.”
