National Academies of Science plans grid-resilience study

Payne, Menendez, Booker Applaud Addition of Newark Contaminated Site to EPA Superfund List

Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-NJ) today praised the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for adding the Pierson’s Creek site in Newark to its Superfund list of most hazardous waste sites. New Jersey now has 115 Superfund sites on the National Priorities List, tops in the nation.

HR 4923 provides $160 million for the Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability, which leads research and development activities for transmission, Smart Grid, energy storage, and cybersecurity.

House Passes Payne Smart Grid Study as Part of Larger Appropriations Bill

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a provision requested by Rep. Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) as part of the Energy and Water Appropriations Act of 2015, which would dedicate $1 million to the study of the nation’s electric grid and determine actions to be taken to strengthen, modernize, and upgrade the nation’s power systems to better withstand natural disasters and cyber attacks.
