Rep. Payne, Jr. to Hold Sit-In to Reduce Gun Violence
Newark, N.J. – Following the historic 26-hour sit-in on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) will hold a symbolic sit-in with constituents to discuss gun violence and call on House Republicans to hold a vote on legislation to address the epidemic. The symbolic sit-in will focus on two bills: legislation to expand background checks, and another measure, “No Fly, No Buy,” to ban individuals on the terrorist watch list from purchasing guns. This week, lawmakers and community advocates across the country are holding events to call for action to address gun violence.
