Payne, Jr. Statement on House Vote to Gut the Affordable Care Act

January 13, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C.Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) issued the following statement today after he voted against House passage of S.Con.Res. 3, FY 2017 GOP Budget Resolution, the House Republican bill to begin the process of repealing the Affordable Care Act.

“The Affordable Care Act has expanded access to care, lowered health costs, and improved the quality of care. But House Republicans, against the will of the American people, have taken the first step to gut the law. After years of promising to offer an alternative to the Affordable Care Act, Republicans have broken that promise. They have no plan to replace the legislation. Without an immediate replacement, 30 million people will be stripped of their health care coverage. If Republicans continue down this path, they’re going to Make America Sick Again.”
