Payne, Jr. Statement on CBO Score of GOP Repeal Bill

Mar 13, 2017 Issues: Health Care

WASHINGTON, D.C.Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) issued the following statement on the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) estimate of the impact of the Republican bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act:

“The CBO has confirmed what we had already suspected—millions of people covered by the Affordable Care Act will lose health coverage under the Republican bill. President Trump promised Americans that they would keep their coverage, but now Republicans are rushing ahead with a bill that will lead to less and worse coverage for higher costs. This bill is an all-around disaster, and I’m going to fight it every step of the way.”

CBO estimates that 14 million people would lose coverage in 2018 under the Republican bill. That number would jump to 24 million by 2026.
