Payne, Jr. Decries Christie’s Plan to Raid Horizon Reserves

NEWARK, N.J. – Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) issued the following statement today criticizing Governor Chris Christie’s plan to raid the reserves of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, the state’s largest health insurer:

“I join my colleagues in Congress who have expressed their concerns regarding the Governor’s plans to raid Horizon’s reserves. With the uncertainty we face in Washington over Trumpcare—legislation that would result in the loss of health care coverage for millions of people—now is not the time to risk a major increase in premiums by raiding a safety net for Horizon’s 3.8 million members.”
